Longest suspensions for fighting in MLB history: What will Anderson, Ramirez get?

Jose Ramirez and Tim Anderson are expected to be suspended by MLB for fighting, but for how long? And what is the longest fighting suspension?

On Saturday night, Tim Anderson and Jose Ramirez went at it in a shouting-match-turned-fist-fight that cleared benches and got blood boiling between the division rival Cleveland Guardians and Chicago White Sox.

Well, Ramirez fought, at least. Anderson looked like he was shadowboxing, even though he was definitely trying to connect with Ramirez. Ramirez punched Anderson in the jaw which knocked him off balance and sent him to the dirt.

Both players will almost definitely be suspended for the incident, but for how long?

The longest suspension received for fighting was 10 games.

Recent flirts with that ceiling were Rougned Odor getting an eight-game suspension for rocking Jose Bautista, Jesse Winker getting seven games for prompting a brawl between the Mariners and Angels, and Hunter Strickland getting six games for throwing at Bryce Harper (Harper got just four games, but Buster Onley noted at the time how, broken down by length of appearance and overall impact, Harper’s suspension was a bigger deal).

Phil Nevin got 10 games for his role having Andrew Wantz throw at Jesse Winker in 2022, but not for fighting.

Best guess, based on the impact of the fight and the baseballish nature of the incident (by that I mean it was a lame fight with just one relatively minor blow), both players will get anywhere from 2-5 games.
