Very hungry bear takes stroll at popular Metro Vancouver beach (VIDEO)

A very hungry bear has become a frequent visitor at Port Moody’s White Pine Beach, prompting officials to issue a public closure of the popular summer destination.

Video footage of the bear was captured by Antoni Kostka. The animal seems to be a fan of the treats and munchies visitors are bringing along to the beach.

In the video, people can be seen standing a few metres away from the animal and filming it. The video was uploaded to Facebook last week and already has nearly 180,000 views.

The frequent bear sightings have resulted in the beach being closed to the public today. The beach was also closed to the public on Sunday.

Metro Vancouver is reminding the public of the following bear safety tips:

“If you see a bear, stay back 100 metres. If you encounter a bear, stay calm and slowly back away,” says Metro Vancouver.
